Invited by Rodolphe Alxis and Olivier Houix for the symposium Médiums, Milieux, Écoutes, Récits (Mediums, Environments, Listening, Narratives), as part of the 2024 Le Mans Sonore Biennale, i presented this presentation on the ethics and aesthetics of field sound art in the context of the current ecological collapse: Quel art sonore sur une Terre abîmée ? (What sound art on a damaged Earth? - available in french only).

This excerpt from recordings made for Melt* at the bottom of a crevasse in the Girose glacier and presented on this page was played while I read, with the bumps and cracks disrupting my remarks in unpredictable ways.

The conference proceedings are published by Éditions MF.
Combining artistic and theoretical practices with fieldwork, Médiums, Milieux, Écoutes, Récits explores contemporary practices of listening and field recording as privileged modes of attending to the ecological, social, and media-related relationships that shape the ways we inhabit the world.
