Melt* (2)
lecture-concert, with Thomas Tilly et Lucas Davaze - 2024~
In 2024, with THomas Tilly, we have invited glaciologist Lucas Davaze to join us on stage for a new step of the Melt* project, which would include more field work and science communication.
Created at the begining of 2025 in Grenoble during the Experimenta Biennale, with co-production from Hexagone (National Theatre of Meylan) and Espace Mendès-France (Poitiers), this concert and lecture hybrid crosses art and science. Melt* studies and listens to a “disappearing object”. The glaciers' repsonse to climate change make the actual ecologoical crisis particularly tangible, it confronts us to transformation, loss, and anxiety about our future ability to inhabit the regions relying on glacier water.
Melt* invites to listening.
Listening to ice, which comes up on stage to sing its melting.
Listening to the mechanics of glaciers, whose movements, cracklings and flows, recorded with sensors lowered into their bowels, bring back up strangely organic palpitations, modulated by seasons.
Listening to a scientific community, who attempts to understand and alert, and also has to redirect its views, rephrase its questions in line with climatic urgency.
