π-Node
radio collective - 2014+
Since 2014, I have been a regular contributor to the π-Node collective.
π·Node (pinode) is an experimental platform for the development of hybrid web/terrestrial radio formats. Through the interconnection of different approaches, tools, technologies, and networks, the collective dreams of a decentralized radio where each node in a network can transmit as well as receive. This idea breaks with the unidirectional principle of traditional radio, replacing it with a horizontal and reciprocal model.
π·Node is interested in all dimensions of radio, testing the physicality of the ether of waves, exploring the spatiality of the frequencies of the electromagnetic spectrum, confronting existing radio infrastructures or imagining those that do not yet exist, experimenting with the methods and aesthetics of sound production, engaging with the pirate history of radio stations in struggle or slipping into the interstices of shifting legislation.
At a time when all communication is prey to digital control, π·Node aims to contribute to nurturing the subversive, resilient, and horizontal potential of radio.
